SYNOPSIS

Summer’s Lease is largely Colin’s story. Recovering from being shot up in Iraq, he decides on a spot of R&R in his cousin John Haworth’s village in Hampshire. That year John and his wife Rosie (aka Lily Rose Rayne, star of the hugely popular film and TV series The Captain’s Daughter) find themselves also playing host to three of Rosie’s Australian cousins: the pretty blonde sisters Molly and Georgia Leach, both so like Rosie in looks that the producer-director Derry Dawlish is determined to star them in his venture into TV production with the sequel to The Captain’s Daughter; and Anna, an older cousin who’s a struggling artist. One of John’s American cousins, Luke, also turns up to stay in the village. But is he really layabout Luke, or his wealthy brother Henry? Finally Rosie’s cousin Joanie’s partner’s young cousin Terri comes over from Spain to do au pair for Colin and Rosie’s actor friend, Euan Keel… A cloud of cousins, a clutch of cousins? Or a calamity? It begins to seem like one, as various couples get together but not necessarily the ones who are right for each other. Life isn’t that easy for any of our characters, and alongside some hilarious scenes of village life as Colin sets up a crafts enterprise, and the idiocies of Derry Dawlish’s new telly production, there are disappointments as well as successes, and deaths and disasters as well as weddings and new beginnings.
